Results of numerical experiments with a 1/12-Degree, 32-layers ocean general circulation model are used to investigate impacts of interannual to interdecadal changes in the wind forcing on the circulation and meridional transports in the South Atlantic. The model is a global implementation of the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). For this purpose, firstly, a climatological experiment was run, forced with monthly means of the NCEP Reanalysis products, with no interannual variability. The last ten years of a two-decades time series run are analyzed. The mean circulation patterns in the South Atlantic are well represented, as compared with observations and results of other models. The outputs are shown presenting no significant long term trends, ruling out the hypothesis of any noticeable model's internal drift. trending in all variables and the region's climatology and circulation patterns are well represented. Another experiments is then run, forced with interannual variability. Now, these data will serve as star from for the present days (the 1950s to the present-2015). We will show the results are compared with those of the climatological experiment, focusing on the circulation, the inter-ocean exchanges, the Agulhas leakage and the meridional transports in the South Atlantic.
